A fire is burning in our fireplace, I’ve made some bread and some relaxed music is pouring softly out of the speaker. It’s a very cozy Sunday and the perfekt ending to a really good weekend.
Friday evening was spent with good food and a few beers, we slept in a little late on Saturday and then spent most of the day on the road. Andreas had been checking out some maps, trying to locate some nice spot to explore and he found a mountain with a lake that seemed promising. We never got that far though!
Since we stayed in bed for a bit too long during the morning, we did not have enough hours of daylight but that’s okay because there was a lot of nice views a long the way and we stopped quite a lot and had an enjoyable day none the less.
Getting this car really was an investment in freedom. We get to drive around in our beautiful, Scandinavian nature and whilst on the road both of us manage to truly relax and feel really well. Just driving along small road, listening to music and seeing wonderful landscapes pass by is something we both love.
We also talk more to each other than we do at home since none of is perched infront of a screen or are being distracted by all those things you feel you have to take care of when you’re at home. Life on the road is simple, wonderful and we love it.
As soon as we spot a nice location, we try to find a place to stop the car if we can. We head outside to take pictures, enjoy the moment and maybe grab a snack or two before continuing. Brining coffee on the road is a must! During winter, another thermos filled with hot chocolate might get to tag along as well.
The sun went down behind the treetops shortly after 14.00 in the afternoon, that’s the downside of winter here in Sweden for sure. But a nice little moon showed itself and we started to head on home, tired after all the impressions and sights but also happy and filled with new energy and inspiration.
There’s also nothing more soothing than driving along dark and empty roads.
