Winter hiking with snowshoes

This month I attended a Winter Workation hosted by Influencers of Sweden. It was located in Åre and we all stayed at Holiday Club who recently launched their Active Inclusive concept.

They adapt it after the seasons and this means that as a guest of the hotel you have access to a huge range of activities, both inside and outside no matter what time of the year you’re there.

Such a lovely concept for active travelers!

I stayed in Åre for a couple of days and one of the afternoon activities was hiking with snowshoes. We borrowed the equipment from the hotel and then we were guided by Sara across the lake and into the forest.

➵ During this Winter Workation I also visited Tännforsen, Sweden’s largest waterfall.

Sara is just as full of energy and colorful as her outfit!

Hiking across the lake with likeminded people gave us the opportunity to have some fun, inspiring conversations. It wasn’t until we reached the forest and headed into the thick snow that I really understood the difference of winter hiking with snowshoes on.

To walk without constantly sinking down in the snow made winter hiking such a breeze, I loved it!

Despite of it being a bit cloudy, the surrounding mountains and snow covered fir trees offered a beautiful scene and hanging out in the wild with all these inspiring women really made the hike worth while!

I really connected with Jennifer who happens to be from the same small, northern town as myself.

I am a strong advocate for the simple things in life, and to head out on close by adventures. One really does not have to travel far or make it too complicated to enjoy nature and some good company.

Imagine just packing some packs with coffee, tea or hot chocolate, some simple food and head out with a bunch of friends straight into a wintery forest with snowshoes. Those kind of experiences are what I live for and that make me feel rich and alive.

I got to know so many new, wonderful persons during this trip. Lovely Nina was one of them.

Once we’d been walking in the forest for a bit, we decided to stop and Katarina made a nice fire for us to gather around. In close range of the heat and smell of smoke we continued to converse about our work as influencers, bloggers and photographers.

The best part about this weekend has definitely been all of our business talks we’ve had together, and that we’ve been doing it no matter if we’ve been gathered at the breakfast table, during coffee breaks in the lobby, in the sauna or while being outside hiking

The concept of a workation that combines business with relaxation and outdoor activities is definitely something I value and I look forward to taking part in this again next year!

Sofia and Katarina we’re full of joy in the forest, and I can’t blame them – we had such a good time!

Eventually the sun started to dip down behind the trees, it started to grow dark and the embers where slowly fading so we packed our things up and started hiking back across the lake, towards the hotel and a warm relaxing moment in the spa area before dinner.
