Winter Workation
Investing in one self is always very important, wether it’s on a personal or business level. Finding the balance between the two is key! As a freelancer I control my own work hours and location, and it’s an enormous freedom. But it can also be lonely.
As of last year, I’ve made it a routine to invest in myself and start the year by going to Åre to attend a Winter Workation hosted by Influencers of Sweden. Last year was the first time and it was the perfect mix of networking with fellow bloggers, the participants having inspiring lectures and outdoor activities such as snowshoeing and visiting local sights such as Swedens largest waterfall.

At the end of January it was time again and on a cold Sunday morning I got on a train headed for Åre. We all stayed at The Holiday Club and for a few days we mingled and talked about our businesses as well as worked together.
One morning started with yoga and was followed by a workshop in creating flower mandalas, held by one of the participants Hanna Wendelbo. It was such a relaxed morning and I feel I need to find that at home as well, starting my mornings slow and focusing on myself so that I’ll have energy and inspiration for the rest of the day.

During the days we we’re outside exploring the village, doing photography or skiing. I went hiking with snow shoes just like last year and we walked across the lake towards the forest where we made a fire and enjoyed some coffee.

One of the days I decided to go for a stroll around the city center and I finally got to pay a visit at the studio where Stich ‘N Stones and Free Spirit Shaking Soul share a place together with some other local businesses.
Not only are their jewelry, decor and accessories gorgeous, these two companies craft their products in a very sustainable way!
During the time we were all at the hotel, it did not matter if we we’re in a conference room or if we were perched by the fireplace in the lobby – the inspiring conversations never ended. In the evenings some of us relaxed in the spa and then we continued to talk and laugh while enjoying the amazing, vegetarian food at The GROW restaurant situated at the hotel.
Just like last year, I left Åre after three days being energized and tired at the same time. Meeting friends and colleagues in a great environment always makes me feel envigorated and inspired. Coming home I have many ideas for my work as a photographer, blogger and influencer and I have the encouragement I need to make stuff happen too.
Investing in one self by attending lectures, workshops, shorter classes or uncoferences / workations in the field of your niche or interest is really worth while and I cannot stress enough how important it is!
One of the evenings was especially grand since Linda’s new book about working as an influencer was released, this had to be celebrated of course!
