My new jewellery brand

We are back from our vacation an autumn is fast approaching. As the cold winds sweep through town and the leaves start to turn I leave summer behind and feel myself change with the season. I’ve always viewed fall as the time when a new year starts, and this year will bring a lot of change to my life. Just like nature changes and prepares for winter, I too am changing and preparing for what’s to come.

I’ve been working as a photographer for about eight years now, and it’s been an amazing journey. I am so proud that I managed to make a living out of my passion, and that I have run my own business for so long. For the last couple of years I have also combined this with being an influencer / content creator.

But the path has been anything but easy. Yes, it has been very fun and creative, and I’ve felt extremely free – being my own boss and everything. But it has also been challenging, hard and stressful. Work as a freelancer is also a very lonely life, and this past year I’ve started to feel really sick and tired of some aspects of it.

Magazine, camera and coffee

I want to work more with other people, and I do not want part of my job to be about showing of the best, most styled version of my life just to “influence” others, even though I take great pride in trying to inspire people to lead a more sustainable, enjoyable life and being out in nature more. I still want to do photography, but I want to bond with you guys over it by teaching more one-on-one courses and having more workshops like the one I did at the beginning of summer.

But I’ve also really longer to work with my hands, take a break from the screen and digital work, and to create something tactile. Now I get to do that, and not alone, but together with my best friend and partner. Together we are now embarking on a journey of making and selling wooden jewellery.

Woodbound Designs

While we were in Canada Dan taught me how to make exotic wood rings and since we got home we’ve been working hard on setting up a workspace, acquiring the tools and materials we need and creating our Instagram account. During this time, Woodbound Designs was formed – a combination of my company, Northbound, and his former one called Woodcore Designs.

I am excited to see where this new path will lead us. Hopefully you are too, and if you like what we create it would mean the world to me if you wanted to follow us on Instagram and join in on this new and exciting adventure!
