Sweden’s largest waterfall – Tännforsen

Situated amongst the fir trees, one can hear the rumble of the water some time before you actually see it. Walking through the forest from the parking lot is a magical experience in itself, especially so during winter as it feels like your in the magical winter forest of Narnia. This meant that it took a while for me and my fellow adventurers and photographers to reach our goal though, since we had to stop and wonder at the forest a few times.

The sound of the powerful water surging through the landscape grew in strength and finally we could see it. Sweden’s largest waterfall, situated in Jämtland, just outside the city of Åre. It offers a spectacular view!

It is very slippery there during winter and some of the steps down to the very bottom of the waterfall where closed during our visit. Be sure to be careful if you decide to pay a visit here during the colder months.
